West Bengal on Wednesday recorded zero COVID deaths for the first time in recent years but filed 153 new cases, a state health department report said. The number of new cases has risen by seven since Tuesday, the report said.
32 new cases have been reported in Kolkata and 28 in the North 24 Parganas region, it said. The positivity level rose to 0.69 percent from 0.61 percent the previous day.
The number of daily tests was less than 23,912 on Tuesday to 22,226 on Wednesday, he said. With 166 people evacuated on Wednesday, the recovery rate stands at 98.86 percent, it said.
The number of active cases on Wednesday was 1,795, down 13 times from the previous day, the report said.
